Colossal Chaos Seeking “Giant” Comic Shorts

Colossal Chaos, the fourth installment of the Out of the Blue anthology series is currently seeking comic submissions. Like the previous Out of the Blue collections, the publisher is looking for unique, original, surprising and (perhaps most importantly) strange stories.

The theme of the fourth installment goes huge with a collection of comic shorts featuring giant robots, gargantuan monsters, and other oversized encounters.

Examples of such in other media include:

  • King Kong
  • Godzilla
  • The Iron Giant
  • The 7th Voyage of Sinbad
  • Pacific Rim
  • Attack of the 50 Foot Woman
  • Power Rangers
  • Jack and the Beanstalk

Preference will be given to works with no previous publication, followed by those with very limited or digital-only publication, or published in a language other than English. Please include a title and credits within the submission pages.

Colored shorts are preferred. The previous Out of the Blue was in full color and this installment is likely to be as well.

Page Count: 1 or more pages. (No page numbers on submissions, please.)
Page Dimensions (with bleed): 7.25” x 10.25″ at 300 DPI (or higher)
Finished Book Dimensions: 7 ” x 10″
File Format: RGB TIFF
Publication Date: November 2017 (estimated)
Payment: Royalties will be donated to the Comic Book Project, a child literacy program. Creators will receive one complimentary copy of the publication. Creators may also purchase additional copies at wholesale cost for resale.

Submission Dates: June 10 through June 30, 2017

To submit, email a low-resolution version as an attachment or secure link to the editors at during the submission period. If the work was previously published or accepted for publication, please state where. Please include a Twitter handle or URL (such as a link to online portfolio, tumblr or professional website) for all contributors.

If chosen for inclusion in the Colossal Chaos anthology, will creators retain rights to share their finished submission online and/or include it future publications (for instance an anthology of the creators work, either self published or through another company)?

      Ross —

Creators retain rights and may republish their work as they wish. Some shorts from past volumes have been included in creator anthologies and original comic series.

      Thank you.

Seeing as the publication date is November, do the submissions have to be completed or is just an outline of what the final product is required and to be completed before November?
